    Edwin Abath was born on Aruba and has been the Plenipotentiary Minister of Aruba since 2009. He went to Colegio Arubano, a school for higher general secondary education. He attended the Academy of Speech in Nijmegen and studied speech therapy and Akoepedie. In his profession he worked as a speech therapist at several public institutions. He also worked at the General Hospital of Aruba, the Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital. From 1990-1997, Mr. Abath was active in politics on behalf of the Aruban People’s Party (AVP). During the Cabinet of Eman II he had various official positions. His main focus was in the field of combating youth crime and improving youth welfare. From 1997 – 2005 he was a States a member of the Aruban Parliament. He held the position of Program Manager for the National Secretariat HIV / AIDS Program of the Country of Aruba. He also represented the country in various regional and international cooperating organizations where the focus was in the above mentioned area. As a performer and singer Mr. Abath also represented the country of Aruba in various international song festivals as the OTI in 1998 where different countries from Latin America, Spain and Portugal participated.
